New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Wednesday detained Manish Sisodia at a hospital where the Deputy Chief Minister had gone to meet the family members of an ex-serviceman, who allegedly committed suicide over the issue of One Rank One Pension scheme (OROP) here.

Sisodia was detained at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital while speaking to the family of the retired soldier.

Taking to Twitter, Sisodia said: "A former soldier commits suicide due to actions of the central government and I get detained just for talking to his family. This is too much."

"The Prime Minister is busy taking credit (for) the soldiers` bravery and today a former soldier commits suicide. Who is responsible for this?" Sisodia asked.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asked if the deputy CM of a state goes to condole the death of someone, would he be arrested.

The 70-year-old ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal committed suicide by consuming poison at a park in New Delhi area last evening.

Police said he, along with some other ex-servicemen, was in the process of submitting a memorandum to the Defence Ministry over the issue of OROP.

According to his friends, Grewal had been upset over the issue for some time.

This is what Sisodia and Kejriwal tweeted:

Ex-servicemen have been protesting over the OROP scheme introduced by the government.
