Delhi HC rejects plea against 2nd phase of odd-even formula in Delhi, terms it pre-mature

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court, Friday, rejected a plea against the implementation of the second phase of odd-even formula in Delhi.

The PIL had questioned the Aam Aadmi Party government's decision to exempt two-wheelers and women drivers from the ambit of the scheme, that is scheduled to be implemented between April 15-30.

The petitioner argued for inclusion of two-wheelers in the odd-even scheme on the basis of studies that found that 37% of the pollution in the national capital is due to two-wheeler emissions.

However, the court found the petition “premature” as the Delhi government is yet to officially notify the implementation of the second phase of odd-even formula.

The Delhi government announced the second phase of the plan following feedback from the people of Delhi in the wake of the January 1-15 experiment which Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said had proved to be a hit.
