New Delhi: Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay on Wednesday strongly condemned the suspension of two officers under the Delhi government, saying it was harassing officials and demanded Home Minister Satyendar Jain's resignation.

"The suspension of two special secretaries under the home department of the Delhi government by Home Minister Satyendar Jain is completely a wrong administrative decision," Upadhyay said.

"The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly opposes such harassment of officials and demands Jain's resignation," he said. Upadhyay said the Arvind Kejriwal government wants to create an atmosphere of terror among the officers and employees by such actions. He said the home minister was pressurising officials of the home ministry to sign a file concerned with the revision of pay scale of its standing counsel Rahul Mehra.

"When the officers refused to sign the file regarding the unconstitutional hike in pay and allowances, Jain not only insulted the officers but also suspended them," he said.

"Due to this arbitrariness of the Kejriwal government, administrative officers are completely demoralised and are avoiding taking decisions regarding government files," he added.
