New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia and 52 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators who were detained on Sunday for several hours for organising an illegal protest march to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 7 RCR residence were released by police.
The AAP MLAs were planning to court-arrest themselves outside 7 RCR to protest over the Centre's alleged “uncooperative” attitude towards the Delhi government.
After being stopped near the Tughlaq Road, Sisodia urged the police to convey his message to the prime minister.
The police had imposed Section 144, which prohibits assembly of more than five people, at 7 RCR after the AAP announced to hold a protest march. At least 52 MLAs were reportedly detained by police.
Sisodia had also planned to “surrender” himself before the prime minister.
The development comes after the Ghazipur Vegetable Market Association submitted a complaint against Sisodia, accusing him of intimidating the businessmen during his official visit there.
"Complaint filed against Manish Sisodia yesterday. Manish will go to 7, RCR today to surrender himself before PM," CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted this morning with a copy of the complaint filed against Sisodia.
