Delhi government orders enquiry into alleged DDCA scam, Gopal Subramaniam to head probe

Delhi government on Sunday decided to order an enquiry into the alleged DDCA scam.

Delhi: Delhi government has decided to set up a commission of inquiry to probe alleged irregularities including financial bunglings in the capital's
cricket body DDCA.

Senior advocate Gopal Subramaniam will head the commission.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted the following on Sunday:

Meanwhile, BJP MP Kirti Azad held a press conference here today to 'expose' the purported scam in DDCA and said that the board gave money to a lot of companies and nature of work was never told.

He added, "Contract were given out to fraud companies, payments were made, without any verification," as per ANI and maintained that it was not a fight against any individual.

"We are only fighting against corruption,"he said.

On the other hand, the AAP government had earlier said today that attempts to "suppress" the enquiry into the affairs of the Delhi Cricket body would not be tolerated and said the Centre should not cause any impediments in the probe.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told reporters that Rajendra Kumar, principal secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, had been "threatened" and "pressurised mentally" by the CBI that his career and life will be harmed if he did not disclose the name of DDCA official who handed over certain files to AAP government, as per PTI.

He claimed one of the files contained a note in which a Union Minister had purportedly told DDCA official that he would get compounded the SFIO crimes against them and stall a probe against them through Lt Governor's office.

The questioning so far has shows that Rajendra was merely an "excuse" behind the CBI raid at Secretariat while the "real target" was Kejriwal, Sisodia claimed.
Saying that AAP government did not object to questioning of Rajendra, he warned that the government will not tolerate any attempt to "suppress" the DDCA enquiry.
