BSF seizes over Rs 5 lakh withdrawn currency in Chhattisgarh
The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday said it seized over Rs 5 lakh "unaccounted" demonetised Rs 500 and 1,000 notes from a person travelling in bus in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district.

Raipur: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday said it seized over Rs 5 lakh "unaccounted" demonetised Rs 500 and 1,000 notes from a person travelling in bus in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district.
"We have seized unaccounted cash of more than Rs 5 lakh in demonetised Rs 500 and 1,000 notes. It is suspected that the money was of terror (Maoist) funding and was being carried for change to new denominations," a BSF official said.
The BSF team apprehended the person as he failed to justify the presence of the currency notes recovered from his possession, said the official, adding the operation was carried with the local police.
Police authorities in Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra were later informed of the seizure, the official said.
