Patna: Siwan strongman and former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin is likely to walk out of jail after 11 years on Friday, a day after Patna high court granted him bail in the much-publicised Rajiv Raushan murder case.
Rajiv was prime witness in the case of brutal murder of his two brothers- Girish Raj and Satish Raj- at Shahabuddin's native village in Siwan district on August 16, 2004.
Rajiv was shot dead in Siwan on June 16, 2014 when Shahabuddin was in jail. Shahabuddin's son Osama was accused of killing Rajiv, while the jailed former MP was later made accused in the case as conspirator.
A single bench of Justice Jitendra Mohan Sharma granted bail to Shahabuddin in Rajiv murder case on Wednesday. The former lawmaker is already on bail in the case related to murder of brothers, Girish Raj and Satish Raj.
"As Shahabuddin has got bail from different courts in all other criminal cases pending against him, he can now walk out of the jail after completing certain formalities," his counsel Y V Giri told reporters.
Shahabuddin, who is currently lodged in Bhagalpur central jail, has been shifted to Siwan district jail.
The former MP would have to complete certain legal formalities at Siwan CJM court on the basis of Patna high court's bail order after that he would be freed to walk out from the jail.
The former MP is in jail since November 2005 after he was rounded-off from his residence in New Delhi by a joint team of Siwan Police and Delhi Police.
