Left supporters block train in Darbhanga, demanding Kanhaiya's release

Scores of left supporter students on Friday blocked the Darbhanga-New Delhi Bihar Sampark Kranti Express here, demanding the release of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students` union president Kanhaiya Kumar.

Darbhanga: Scores of left supporter students on Friday blocked the Darbhanga-New Delhi Bihar Sampark Kranti Express here, demanding the release of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students` union president Kanhaiya Kumar.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will today hear the bail petition of Kanhaiya, who has been arrested under the sedition charges by the Delhi Police.

Kanhaiya had yesterday moved the Supreme Court for bail and release from custody under Article 32 of the Constitution, saying "fear for the safety of life and limb" at the Delhi sessions court had compelled him to approach the apex court directly for release.

The JNU students` union president`s bail petition will be argued by former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee.

Kanhaiya in petition has said that there is repeated breakdown of law and order at the Patiala House Courts despite directives of the apex court, making it impossible for him and his lawyers to approach the session`s court for bail.
