Eight CRPF personnel injured in encounter with Maoists

The Maoists triggered the blast when CRPF personnel were on patrolling duty near Dumari Nala and the CRPF opened fire in retaliation, police said.

Gaya: Eight personnel of the Cobra battalion of CRPF were injured in an encounter following a landmine blast by the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the district on Monday.

The Maoists triggered the blast when CRPF personnel were on patrolling duty near Dumari Nala and the CRPF opened fire in retaliation, police said.

Magadh Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Saurabh Kumar confirmed the encounter in Chakarbandha jungle on the borders of Aurangabad and Gaya districts.

Police reinforcements led by Aurangabad SP Baburam have reached the spot, he said, adding Gaya police have already launched a search.
