Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav finds 'supporters' in JD(U)

Bihar's recently appointed Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, it seems, has found backing from the Janata Dal (United), one of the key members of the Mahagathbandhan.

New Delhi/Patna: Bihar's recently appointed Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, it seems, has found backing from the Janata Dal (United), one of the key members of the Mahagathbandhan.

On Sunday, the Janata Dal-United described the younger son of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav as someone with a bright future who should be given time to prove himself on the political front.

"Tejashwi Yadav should be given a time of six months to do his work, and then, the media and opposition should speak on him," JD-U leader KC Tyagi told ANI.

He made his views on Tejashwi known a day after he had taken oath of office and was at the receiving end of critics across different platforms.

Tejashwi took to Twitter on Saturday to justify his appointment as Nitish Kumar's deputy.

"I will leave no stone unturned for development & to increase the value of Brand Bihar, so that @NitishKumar can be proud of me as his deputy," Tejaswi tweeted.

Backing Tejashwi's reply, another JD (U) leader Ajay Alok said that a youth leader like him should be given time to prove him.

"Tejashwi Yadav has rightly said, if a youth leader has got opportunity to take charge of responsibility he should be given time to prove him," JDU leader Ajay Alok told ANI.

"It is not right to declare him clean bowled before he stands on the pitch," he added.

Tejashwi had earlier directly targeted the people who consider him incapable of the post and said that there are two chief ministers in his family and he has seen how government's work.

"I may be inexperienced but I am not unaware. I will learn the trappings of how a government works under Nitish ji. How would you call me undeserving, I am an elected member of the house," he added.
