After Nitish, Lalu's son Tej Pratap Yadav calls Ishrat Jahan 'daughter of Bihar'

Patna: Bihar Health Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tej Pratap Yadav, Friday, echoed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's sentiments saying, Lashkar-e-Toiba operative Ishrat Jahan, shot dead in an encounter with Gujarat police in 2004, was a 'daughter of Bihar'.

Tej Pratap's comments are expected to raise the political heat as Pakistani-American terrorist-turned-approver David Coleman Headley on Thursday said Ishrat Jahan was the member of Pakistan-based terror outfit LeT.

In 2013, Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar called Ishrat Jahan ‘Bihar ki Beti’. Later another JD(U) leader Ali Anwar had said, "Ishrat Jahan was a daughter of Bihar and people from Bihar believe in fighting for truth. She will get justice; we will get it for her.”

BJP's leaders in Bihar on Thursday demanded Bihar CM's apology for describing Ishrat as a "daughter of Bihar".

Union Minister Giriraj Singh said Nitish Kumar had played with national security for the sake of vote bank politics regarding Ishrat Jahan's alleged encounter on June 15, 2004.

Ishrat, a 19-year-old college student, Pranesh Pillai alias Javed Gulam Sheikh, Amjad Ali Rana and Zeeshan Johar were killed on Ahmedabad's outskirts in an alleged shootout with the police on June 15, 2004.
