Bengaluru: Two days after violent protests against release of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru is slowly limping back to normalcy.
After 2 days of being shut, some schools in the city will re-open today.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has convened a meeting on Law and order situation in the morning on Wednesday.
The government has decided to deploy additional central forces in the city and continue prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC till further orders.
Siddaramaiah has sought appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek his intervention to bail out the state from the present crisis as the storage position in reservoirs is poor.
Karnataka CM has asked the city police chief to get the city fully functional and peaceful.
State transport and city buses as well as Metro have resumed operation. As per reports, Karnataka Road Transport buses have started operating to all places except Tamil Nadu. Metro rail has also resumed its service in the city since yesterday night.
On Tuesday, PM Modi made an appeal for calm and said the situation is "distressful" and added that breaking the law is not a "viable alternative" since it was causing loss to the poor.
Modifying its September 5 order, the apex Court earlier on Monday asked the Karnataka Government to release to release 12,000 cusecs of Cauvery River water every day to Tamil Nadu till September 20.
It had earlier directed the Karnataka Government to release of 15,000 cusecs of water for 10 days as immediate relief to farmers in Tamil Nadu.
