AIUDF, RJD and JD(U) announce grand alliance in Assam

Guwahati: Assam's All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has joined hands with RJD and JD(U) to jointly fight the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

Badruddin Ajmal heads the AIUDF.

Earlier, the Congress had put out a list of 65 candidates for the polls.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will contest from Titabar, a Congress stronghold.

BJP's chief ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal will contest from Majuli, a reserved seat for tribals.

The first and second phase of the Assam assembly elections will be held on April 4 and 11, respectively. Assam has a total of 126 assembly constituencies.
