New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, Wednesday, vowed to put pressure on the Centre for special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to a delegation of Congress leaders and workers from the state at party's 24 Akbar Road headquarters here, Rahul said that the people of Andhra Pradesh are asking questions on what support the Centre is giving to newly formed state.
Mocking the PM, Rahul said, “He brings mud and water to Andhra Pradesh. It shows you the mentality of the Prime Minister.” He was referring to PM Modi's gesture to take mud from the Parliament and water from the Yamuna when he went to Amaravati for the foundation stone laying ceremony of AP's new capital.
Rahul alleged that the Prime Minister only understands the language of “pressure”. Lauding the Congress, Rahul added that it was because of the pressure put by the Congress that the government proposed a 'pro-poor' budget this year.
