Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat gave Ranveer Singh, an opportunity of a lifetime, a role that only he could have essayed most convincingly. As Alauddin Khilji, Ranveer left millions of moveigoers across the globe spellbound.

His avatar, body-language and expressions were mind-blowing and he was ruthlessly awesome as the Sultan in the magnum opus which also stars Deepika Padukone (as Rani Padmavati) and Shahid Kapoor (as Maharawal Ratan Singh).

The most striking part apart from Ranveer's performance in Padmaavat was his chemistry with jim Sarbh, the actor who played Malik Kafur, Alauddin's slave-general.

The song - Binte Dil - picturised on Alauddin and Kafur highlighted the unusual bond between the two characters.  The song had an Arabic feel and Arijit Singh had added soul to it by lending his melodious voice.

And now, the makers have shared a behind-the-scenes video which shows the hardwork and dedication that was put by the cast and crew to pull off a stunner on screen.

The film which relaesed on January 25, has successfully completed 50 days of screening and minted over Rs 300 crores at the Indian Box Office.

Based on 16th century Sufi poet Malik Muhammed Jayasi’s Padmavat, the film was embroiled in controversies since its inception.

Initially titled Padmavati, the film was scheduled for release on December 1 last year. But owing to nationwide protests by Rajput groups over its historical content, the makers decided to defer the film. Moreover, the Central Board of Film Certification too hadn’t issued the clearance certificate. It was only after seeking suggestions from a panel of experts that the Censor Board released a screening certificate. It had also suggested a few modifications and the same were duly incorporated by the makers.

Padmaavat also stars Raza Murad as Jalaluddin Khilji and Aditi Rao Hydari as Mehrunnisa
