Mumbai rains today: Latest updates
The India Meteorological Department officials have said it is the highest rainfall of the season so far in 24 hours.
Mumbai woke up to a maniac morning on Tuesday with heavy rains lashing the city for the consecutive fourth day. The heavy rains have brought the city and its neighbouring areas to a standstill with several streets flooded and normal life badly hit.
Here are the latest updates:
"Mumbai local is the life line of the city. The entire team of Central Railways have worked hard to ensure uninterrupted services. We are confident that we will be able to maintain train services not only in Mumbai city but also outside," DK Sharma, GM Central Railways told ANI.
We made provision of snacks, water etc for the passengers of regulated train at Dahanu Road station. Stalls have been instructed to remain open at such stations. The help of NGOs is also being taken to make the best possible catering arrangements for the passengers: Western Railways

Due to very high water levels on railway tracks at Nalla Sopara, traffic has been suspended between Bhayander-Virar due to which following long distance trains have been cancelled and short-distance trains have been terminated: Western Railways

As water level has risen above 400mm, the power supply of Shatabdi Exo has to be switched off as a precautionary measure. As soon as the water recedes to a safe level, train will be brought back to Mumbai Central: Western Railway
Water enters inside houses, shops and several corporate offices at Elphinstone area near the railway station. All schools have been shut down in Thane as heavy rains batter the city.
Passengers to please note that 12009 Mumbai Central - Ahmedabad Shatabdi Exp of 10.7.18 has been terminated at Nalla Sopara. Efforts are being made to pull the train to Vasai Road from where local services are available: Western Railways

At least 10 lakh office-goers affected as train services on Virar-Mumbai routes have been hit badly due to widespread downpours.
Traffic has been diverted due to waterlogging at Andheri subway. Bahar bridge southbound traffic was slow-moving due to potholes on Sahar elevated road.
No government advisory has been issued for office and education institutions in the city in the wake of continuous downpour and severe waterlogging in Mumbai.
Several private schools closed in Mumbai due to continuous downpour. However, there has been no official confirmation about school holiday from the authorities so far.
Trains services between Nala Sopara and Dahanu suspended due to heavy rains. Some long distance trains coming to Mumbai have been halted outside the city, beyond Viraj.

As per BMC, Mumbai has received over 50% of the season's average rainfall in the last 20 days itself.
India Meteorological Department forecast heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places in the districts of Greater Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar between 10 and 13 July.
