New York: Samsung Electronics Co Ltd launched the new Galaxy Note 8 phablet at an event in New York on Wednesday.

The trademark curved screen of the latest incarnation measures 6.3 inches corner to corner, a mere 0.1 inch bigger than the S8+.

Note 8 features the signature "S Pen" stylus with Galaxy Note 8 comes with a latency of less than 50 milliseconds.

This is Samsung`s first smartphone to feature dual camera set-up at the rear with portrait mode and dual optical image stabilisation (OIS).

Galaxy Note 8 sports top-notch features such as 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The phone will come with 64-bit Exynos 8895 octa-core processor in regions like India and other Asian countries. 

Other features include security technology, such as facial recognition and fingerprint and iris scanning, and artificial intelligence in the form of Samsung`s Bixby voice-command assistant.

The Galaxy Note 8, which comes in Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Orchid Grey, and Deep Sea Blue colours, will be available for pre-orders in select market starting tomorrow. Shipping of the phablet will start on September 15 while the global roll out of Galaxy Note 8 expected in October.
