Sidhi: Education is one of the top priorities of the Centre.
Over the past three years, the government has rolled out several schemes for tertiary and senior levels. But are these schemes even reaching the people who are supposed to benefit from them? Are teachers able to deliver on promises and educate their pupils?
In order to find out, Zee News reached a Prathmik Pathshala or primary school situated nearly 25 kilometers away from Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh.
Sidhi District is one of the tribal districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Upon reaching, two teachers – Sita Prasad Baiga and Nand Kishore Thakre – were spotted helping children with their lessons.
But there was something odd. A multiplication table of 13 was written on the blackboard – and it was wrong. When asked about it and then some basic general knowledge trivia questions, it became apparant that common awareness was lacking.
The teachers here could not even answer basic questions about who is the current state governor and the number of districts in the state.
Later, on request, the teachers wrote the multiplication table of 17 on the blackboard. Not only did they falter while writing it, several answers were wrong.
The entire experience proved how incapable educators can be and how they can pass on wrong education to children.
