Horrific: Raped for months, woman brings aborted foetus in a bag to police

Bhopal: A young woman, allegedly raped for months by a man, managed to flee her abductor and reached the police station carrying her aborted foetus in a bag. The horrific incident took place in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district, about 500-km away from Bhopal.

The victim, a 20-year-old woman, alleged that she was raped by a man for months. 

Seven months ago, when the girl stepped out for some work, she was reportedly raped by the accused. Threating to shame her family, the accused continued raping her for months afterwards.

Upon finding out about her pregnancy, the rapist forced her to undergo an abortion. The girl was reportedly six-months pregnant at the time, making it a medically risky procedure. 

Later, seeking opportunity, she reached the police station with the aborted foetus, where she narrated her horrific tale. 

The police are currently probing the incident. 

According to reports, after the forceful abortion, the accused threatened to shame the victim and her family on speaking about the incident to anyone.

Another report suggests the woman was raped by the accused and the brother for seven months. Later the accused promised to marry the woman, but upon finding out her pregnancy, forced to her to abort it.

On October 31, 2017, four men raped a young woman near Habibganj railway station in Bhopal when she was returning home after attending a coaching class. The victim, daughter of a police couple, had to make rounds of different police stations to get her complaint registered as police officers quibbled over jurisdiction. The incident has sparked a massive public outrage. 

In order to instil fear in offenders, the Bhopal police paraded four men, accused of gangraping a 20-year-old girl, on the busy city streets last month. 

Of late, police in Madhya Pradesh have taken to parading habitual eve-teasers or those accused of sexual offences through streets, as a measure of deterrence after the government came under fire for increase in crime against women.
