Allahabad is one of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. Voting in the politically significant Holy city of Allahabad, which has now been rechristened as Prayagraj, was held in the sixth phase on May 12 and the combined results of the seven-phase 2019 Lok Sabha election will be announced on May 23.

In the politically crucial state of Uttar Pradesh, 54 percent polling was reported in 14 constituencies.

Girdhar Gopal Tripathi of Communist Party of India, Yogesh Shukla of Indian National Congress, Rajendra Singh Patel of Samajwadi Party, Rita Bahuguna Joshi of Bharatiya Janata Party and Bhawani Singh of Aam Aadmi Party are a few prominent candidates contesting for general elections 2019 from Allahabad Lok Sabha Constituency of Uttar Pradesh.

Allahabad parliamentary constituency comprises of five assembly segments namely Meja, Karachhana, Allahabad South, Bara and Koraon. 

In 2014 Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janata Party's Shyama Charan Gupta won the seat by a margin of 62009 votes.

While Sharma bagged 3,13,772 votes, Samajwadi Party's Kunwar Rewati Raman Singh stood at the second spot with 2,51,763 votes.
