Hockey India League 2015: Auction - As it happened...

The 2015 Hockey India League auction for players concluded, but the confusion still exists regarding the fates of the unsold players. Here is the detailed REPORT of that path-breaking event.

And the auction will continue for those unsold players after the last listed name went unsold from the final lot.

After three unsold players in the final slot, Kalinga Lancers bought England midfielder Adam Dixon at the base price of USD 15000.

Harjeet Singh and Tyron Pereira sold to Delhi Waveriders and Dabang Mumbai for USD 6000 respectively.

A whopping USD 81,000 for defender Gurmail Singh as Dabang Mumbai beat Punjab Warriors and Delhi Waveriders in the bidding war. The Punjab & Sind Bank player's base price was USD 12,000.

But a smart business from Waveriders, as the Delhi franchise won the bid for another defender Amit Gowda.

After that Gurinder Singh Chandi insane buy by Punjab, UP Wizards get M Gunasekar at the base price of USD 2600. But Dabang Mumbai dole out USD 43,000 for midfielder Vikas Sharma.

Gurinder Singh Chandi pockets USD 75000. The ONGC forward has been taken by Punjab Warriors. Huge amount.

UP Wizards won the Jaskaran Singh bid for USD 2600, then Delhi Warriors snapped up midfielder Santa Singh for USD 6000. Kiwi Nick Haig went to Punjab Warriors for his base price of USD 10,000. But Australian defender Chris Bausor failed to attract any bidder and is unsold. His base price is USD 20,000.

Another big buy for Mumbai franchise. Forward Nikkin Thimmaiah costs them USD 67,000.

Armaan Quereshi goes at whose base price is his base price to Punjab Warriors in his base price USD 4500.

India defender Gurinder Singh sold to UP Wizards for USD 48,000 against the base price of USD 6,000.

Dabang Mumbai won the bid for Indian forward Affan Yousuf. ANother expensive player. Sold for USD 53,000 against his base price of USD 17,000.

Iain Lewers of England joins Delhi. Aussie Timothy Deavin moves to Rancho Rays for USD 29,000.

After some time, Delhi Waveriders got a winning bid to get the services of Vickram Kanth. The Indian Oil defender is worth USD 52,000, more than double the base-price of USD 20,000.

Probably a bargain buy for UP Wizards in Aiyappa Mukkatira Biddappa. The experienced defender has been snapped up for USD 2600.

UP Wizards successfully bid for Chinglensana Singh at $62,000. He can turn out to be a decisive player for Wizards. 

Intense battle on for  Chinglensana Singh as the half-back has already crossed the $60,000 mark. 

Drag flicker Sandeep Singh joins MS Dhoni's Ranchi Rays for an outstanding sum of $81,000.

Jaypee Warriors pocketed Jasjit Singh Kular and Aussie Matt Gohdes for $65000 and $71,000 respectively. 

​Danish Mujtaba whose base price was $ 15,500 goes to Dabang Mumbai for $54,000. 

Kenny Bain of Scotland has also become the first player from his country to be part of HIL as UP Wizards sealed his deal for $17,000. 

Austin Smith has become first South African player bought in Hockey India League as Delhi Waveriders pocketed him $59,000. 

German trio of Mortiz Fuerste, Florian Fuchs and Tobias Hauke hogged the limelight thus far in the auction. Fuerste broke all records as he was picked by Kalinga Lancers for USD 105,000, which is the highest ever in HIL auctions.

Kalinga Lancers successfully bid for 17 year old Dipsan Tirkey and Pardeep Mor at $31,000 and $37,000 respectively. 

South African skipper Austin Smith will play for John Abraham's team Delhi Waveriders as they spent $57,000 on him.

UP Wizards are lucky to get the Olympics gold medalist Jamie Dwyer that too at $57,000.

Time for a lunch break in the Hockey India League (HIL) 2015 players' auction. 

Many young Indian players are unsold in the auction, which is an area of serious concern according to many hockey pundits. 

John Abraham's Delhi Waveriders manage to sign the prized player Mandeep Singh at $70,000. And it makes Mandeep the highest-paid Indian thus far in today's auction.

Young goalkeeper Krishan Pathak sings with Dabang Mumbai for a sum of $ 2,600. 

Starting from a base price of $ 20,000, Dharamvir Singh manages to bag $60,000 as Kalinga Lancer's seal the deal.

Dabang Mumbai is the team for Mathew Swann as they make the final bid of $75,000 for the Aussie. 

Mathew Swann of Australia is the next in line. The Aussie is expected to get a good sum this time around. 

After another intense battle UP Wizards manage to buy German Tobias Hauke at a sum of $96,000. 

Rupinderpal Singh bags $68,000 as he joins Delhi Waveriders.

Time for a break in HIL bidding after six teams are done with the first three lots. 

Bob Hayton finally slammed the hammer as Moritz Fuerste has been sold for $105,000 by Kalinga Lancers. It's also the highest bid in the auction thus far.   

Bidding for German midfielder Moritz Fuerste has also reached an exciting level. It has crossed the sum of $70,000.  

Dabang Mumbai seal the deal for German forward Florian Fuchs at a heavy price of USD 96,000. 

Dabang Mumbai takes the bid of Florian Fuchs to a whopping sum of $96,000. Mind it, it's highest bid of the day, thus far.  

German forward Florian Fuchs is up for grabs. His bid has crossed $40,000 mark.

The first Indian player to go under hammer is Vivek Sagar. But the 16-year-old but goes into the reserve pool.

Sardar and Rupinder will be among 135 Indians who will be up for grabs. The HIL Auction 2015 will also witness 137 foreign players, including Jamie Dwyer, Nicolas Jacobi, Andrew Hayward, Kieran Govers and Lucas Rey from across the globe going under the hammer.

Present for the auctions will be FIH CEO, Kelly Fairweather as the new regulations get the backing of the International Hockey Federation.

Besides him, each team's representatives include the owners along with the key think squad and coaches, who will be seen working on the combinations and ensuring that they bag the best players suited to complete their squad.

Going by the new regulations, franchisees can build a team of 20 players, which allows each franchisee to have 12 Indian players and 8 foreign players in their respective team.

Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra, chairman of Hockey India League and President of Hockey India, said, "It will be an exciting moment to see the franchises targeting the finest players to ensure a successful bidding session. What will play a key role is the new regulations introduced just a couple of days back.

"If one field goal results in two goals, so I think the strategy will be to have the best strikers in the team. So I am sure there will be last moment thinking in terms of targeting the best possible players for each ones team."
