New Delhi: Over 27 per cent polling has been registered in the bypoll to Rajasthan's Dhariawad (Pratapgarh) assembly constituency while the figure for the Vallabhnagar (Udaipur) seat was more than 23 per cent till 11 am. Voting is underway since 7 AM to decide the fate of 16 candidates.

The by-polls in three Lok Sabha and 30 assembly constituencies across different states is being held today. The three parliamentary constituencies that are going for poll today are Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. 

As far as the assembly constituencies are concerned, Andhra Pradesh will hold an election on one seat, Assam on five, Bihar on two, Haryana on one, Himachal Pradesh on three, Karnataka on two, Madhya Pradesh on three, Maharashtra on one, Meghalaya on three, Mizoram on one, Nagaland on one, Telangana in one and West Bengal on four seats. 

The counting will take place on November 2.

 An estimated 69.60 per cent of 7.96 lakh voters exercised their franchise in by-elections to five assembly constituencies in Assam till 5 pm on Saturday when polling ended, an official said. Voting has been peaceful in the five seats - Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thowra.
Polling was conducted with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols. The highest voter turnout of 76.71 per cent was recorded in Gossaigaon, followed by Thowra (75.07 per cent), Bhabanipur (74 per cent), Tamulpur (62 per cent) and Mariani (61.62 per cent), the official of the state Chief Electoral Officer's office said. Nearly 67 per cent polling was recorded in byelection to the Dadra and Nagar Haveli Lok Sabha constituency by 5 pm  Election Commission officials said. Voting was underway without any untoward incident, they added. It is scheduled to end shortly, at 6 pm. (PTI)

Himachal Pradesh recorded an approximate voter turnout of 55.70 per cent till 5 pm in the ongoing bypolls in three assembly constituencies on Saturday.According to Election Commission, Arki recorded 54 per cent, Fatehpur recorded 54.71 per cent and Jubbal-Kotkhai recorded 59.12 per cent voter turnout till 5 pm. West Bengal recorded a voter turnout of 59.68 per cent till 4.30 pm in the four Assembly constituencies during the by-elections on Saturday (October 30). According to the election commission, the Dinhata assembly seat recorded 61.52 per cent voter turnout while 66.07 per cent turnout is recorded from the Gosaba seat.Kharadaha seat witnessed a voter turnout of 52.37 per cent whereas the Santipur seat reported a 64.18 per cent turnout. The voting began at around 7 am and will continue till 6:30 pm today. (ANI)

 An estimated 56.78 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the bypoll to Sindgi and Hangal assembly constituencies in Karnataka, till 3pm, election officials said. While Sindgi recorded 51.6 per cent voting so far, in Hangal it is 62.72 per cent. The polling began at 7 am and will go on till 7 pm. A total of 19 candidates are in the fray in the two constituencies, including six from Sindgi and 13 from Hangal. Two candidates from Sindgi are women.
The counting of votes will take place on November 2. (PTI)

The Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly segment has registered the highest polling percentage of 65.88, while the lowest voter turnout of 47.17 per cent was recorded in the Mandi Lok Sabha segment till 4 pm in the bypolls to three Assembly seats and one parliamentary constituency in Himachal Pradesh, an election official said. A voter turnout of 45.67 per cent was recorded till 1 PM  in the bypolls to three Assembly seats and of 39.08 per cent in the byelection to the Khandwa Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh where ruling BJP and opposition Congress are locked in a straight contest. Jobat, Prithvipur and Raigaon Assembly constituencies recorded turnouts of 40.61%, 53.90% and 44.52% per cent, respectively, in the first six hours of voting till 1 PM, officials said. A total of 48 candidates are in the fray in these four constituencies where polling will be held till 6 PM, the officials said. These byelections were necessitated due to the death of sitting MLAs and an MP. Of the four seats for which the bypollls are underway, two constituencies namely Khandwa (Lok Sabha) and Raigaon (SC) were held by the BJP while Jobat and Prithvipur were with the Congress. The three parliamentary constituencies that are going for poll today are Madhya Pradesh (Khandwa), Himachal Pradesh (Mandi) and the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

In the assembly constituencies, Andhra Pradesh will hold an election in its Badvel (SC) constituency, Assam will conduct elections in five assembly constituencies of Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thowra, Bihar will hold elections on Kusheshwar Asthan (SC) and Tarapur seats and Haryana will hold an election in the Ellenabad assembly seat.

Himachal Pradesh will also hold polls on three seats in Fatehpur, Arki and Jubbal-Kotkhaim, Karnataka on Sindgi and Hangal, Madhya Pradesh on Prithvipur, Raigaon (SC), Jobat (ST) and Maharashtra in the Deglur (SC) constituency.

Meghalaya will conduct assembly bye-polls for the Mawryngkneng (ST), Mawphlang (ST) and Rajabala constituencies, Mizoram for Tuirial (ST), Nagaland for Shamtorr-Chessore (ST), Rajasthan for Vallabhnagar and Dhariawad (ST), Telangana for Huzurabad and West Bengal for Dinhata, Santipur, Khardaha and Gosaba (SC) assembly seats.
