Govt committed to double farmers’ income, says Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia

Union Home Minister hit out at Congress and said that during Manmohan Singh's government, there was no policy for the country, there was no talk on the security of the country and that every day a new corruption came to the fore.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today (October 27) addressed the inaugural session of 'National Conference on Delivering Democracy: Reviewing two decades of PM Narendra Modi as Head of Government'. During his address, Shah said that in 2001, the BJP decided that Narendra Modi will become the CM of Gujarat. "It was a rare occasion - because he had no real experience of running administrations until then," he said.

He also hit out at Congress and said that in Manmohan Singh's government, the cabinet ministers considered themselves to be the Prime Minister.

"There was no policy for the country, there was no talk on the security of the country, every day a new corruption came to the fore," Shah added.

Earlier in the day, Supreme Court formed a three-member committee to probe the Pegasus snooping. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and comprising Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli said the Committee has been formed to probe the falsity and discover the truth in Pegasus row.

"Right to Privacy violation needs to be examined," the top court added.

The three-member committee will be headed by former Supreme Court Judge RV Raveendran along with Alok Joshi and Sandeep Oberoi. The SC has asked the Committee to examine the allegations thoroughly and place a report before court within two months.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually attended the 16th East Asia Summit.

Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today (October 27) has announced that all schools in the national capital are permitted to re-open from November 1. Sisodia stated that schools will have to ensure that classes take place in hybrid mode with a maximum of 50% strength in classrooms. 

He added, "Experts suggested that no parent will be forced to send their children to school."

Pegasus matter: Supreme Court said that the Committee has been formed to probe the falsity and discover the truth. "Right to Privacy violation needs to be examined. There is a serious concern of foreign agency involvement by surveilling Indians," Supreme Court said.

The three-member committee will be headed by RV Raveendran, former Supreme Court Judge. Other members will be Alok Joshi and Sandeep Oberoi. The top court has also asked the Committee to examine the allegations thoroughly and place a report before the court and post the hearing after 8 weeks.

New Delhi: Supreme Court will today pronounce verdict on a batch of pleas seeking an independent probe into the Pegasus snooping matter. A bench comprising Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli had reserved an order on September 13, saying it only wanted to know whether or not the Centre used the Pegasus spyware through illegal methods to allegedly snoop on citizens.
