RIP Amma: Jayalalithaa dies after 75 days in hospital; Tamil Nadu mourns
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, who suffered cardiac arrest yesterday, died on Monday at Chennai's Apollo Hospitals.

Chennai: J Jayalalithaa died here on Monday night at Apollo Hospitals after suffering cardiac arrest yesterday.
The 67-year-old leader passed away after battling for life for 75 days, the Apollo Hospitals said in a statement.
Two hours after the announcement of her death, her loyalist O Panneerselvam was sworn in as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister at a sombre ceremony at the Raj Bhawan along with all the ministers in the erstwhile Jayalalithaa Cabinet.
After paying homage to Babasaheb Ambedkar at Parliament House, PM Modi will leave for Chennai to pay homage to Jayalalithaa, reports ANI.

The Tamil Nadu government has declared 6th December 2016 as public holiday under Negotiable Instrument Act as a mark of respect to Jayalalithaa, reports ANI
Jayalalithaa's mortal remains reach Rajaji Hall. Supporters and party workers have already gathered there in big numbers.
The cavalcade is now moving out of Poes garden. The supporters have sprung back into action, trying to touch the ambulance.
Defying all the security arrangement, supporters of Jayalalithaa were sleeping outside her residence waiting for her mortals to be taken away.
