53.32 percent turnout in third phase of polling in Bihar Assembly elections: CEO Ajay Nayak.

In an exclusive interview to news agency ANI, Finance Minister and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley says: "In this election, the conventional arithmetic has come to an end. The basic chemistry has changed in this election. The youth and women are with the BJP and NDA in large numbers. It is difficult to assess them in this changed chemistry."

26.94 percent voter turnout was recorded till 12 noon in the third phase of the Bihar elections.

9.12 percent voting recorded till 9 AM for third phase of Bihar polls.

Senior BJP leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi casts his vote in Rajendra Nagar, Patna.

Nearly 14.5 million voters are eligible to decide the fate of 808 candidates. Most of the 14,170 polling booths are in the rural areas. The six districts where polling will be held are Patna, Saran, Vaishali, Nalanda, Bhojpur and Buxar.

Voting started at scheduled 7 AM in 14,170 polling stations spread in six districts of Patna, Vaishali, Saran, Nalanda, Buxar and Bhojpur districts.

Polling would end at 4 PM in 10 constituencies due to security reasons and at 5 PM in the rest 40 constituencies, Additional Chief Electoral Officer R Lakshamanan said.

The prominent politicians, other than the two sons of Lalu Prasad, whose fate would be decided in this round are BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav (Patna Sahib), ministers Shyam Rajak and Shrawan Kumar from Phulwari and Nalanda seats respectively, Deputy Speaker Amarendra Pratap Singh (Ara) and BJP's chief whip in the state Assembly Arun Kumar Sinha (Kumhrar).

The staggered elections to pick a 243-member Bihar assembly will end on November 5. The result will be revealed three days later.

In the first and second phases of the elections on October 12 and 16, polling was held in 49 and 32 constituencies. The fourth round will be held on November 1.
