Guwahati: According to latest results, Assam has voted for change giving BJP its first government in the northeastern state dislodging Congress.

Addressing the media and his supporters at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on Thursday evening, PM Modi said: “I extend my heartiest wishes to all voters, Election 2016 results are quite exciting for BJP and NDA.”

He thanked the Election Commission for conducting the assembly election “peacefully and nicely”.
Sonowal described the BJP's allies as its strong pillars which helped register an emphatic win in the Assembly polls.
He said that the new government in the state would face many challenges in near future but it will be prepared.
Sonowal said because of our united approach, the message of the BJP and its allies went to the ground and the people of Assam finally understood that we can deliver on our promises.
Addressing the media following his party's landslide victory in Assam elections on Thursday, Chief Minister designate Sarbananda Sonowal thanked the people of the state and party workers for making this resounding victory possible for BJP and its allies.
