Bijapur is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka. Voting for Lok Sabha election in Karnataka was held in two phases on April 18 and April 23. Bidar went to polls on April 23 and counting will be held on May 23.

Bijapur registered 61.85 percent voter turnout in 2019, a gain of 2.14 percent. The total number of electors in the constituency is 1795931 while the total voter turnout is 1110810. While in 2014, the constituency registered 59.71 percent voter turnout. The total number of electors in the constituency was 1621570 while the total voter's turnout was 968286.

Jigajinagi Ramesh Chandappa of Bharatiya Janata Party, Pujari Shrinath Sangappa of Bahujan Samaj Party and Dr. Sunita Devanand Chavan of Janata Dal (Secular) are a few prominent candidates contesting for general elections 2019 from Bijapur Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka.

Bijapur parliamentary constituency comprises of eight assembly segments namely Muddebihal, Devar Hippargi, Basavana Bagevadi, Babaleshwar, Bijapur City, Nagthan, Indi and Sindgi.

In 2014 Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ramesh Jigajinagi won the seat by a margin of 69819 votes. Ramesh Jigajinagi bagged 471757 votes while his nearest rival Congress leader Prakash Rathod secured 401938 votes.
