New Delhi: Facebook-owned WhatsApp has mounted two new features- support for picture-in-picture and posting text-only updates to your status- on its Android and iPhone clients in order to improvise its functionality for its huge bulk of users.
The picture-in-picture feature allows users to resize the video calling window and move it around if they want to do texting simultaneously. The company began testing PiP feature on Android in July. Apple's latest editions for iPhone also support this feature.
Up till now, users were only allowed to put their pictures and videos as status updates but the second feature offers them the ability to have text-only updates as their status. The new version of stable Whatsapp build on Android and iOS (v2.17.323 and 2.17.52 respectively) enables the users to choose the background colour and add the text.

The messaging app is continuously coming up with new capabilities and improvements in its existing features. Recently, the company announced tools for business customers who are getting verified profiles on the service. Subsequent to India's digital payments interest, WhatsApp is also working on bringing support for UPI payments in the country.
