Mumbai: From making hard hitting flicks to belting out breezy comedies, director Raj Kumar Santoshi surely knows his art. Santoshi’s mega opus ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ is an effervescent romantic comedy since the yesteryears super hit ‘Andaz Apna Apna.’
Surely, Santoshi is a master craftsman who knows his art well and once again proves the fact that form is temporary but class is permanent. In ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif share a crackling chemistry that oozes with oodles of charm. ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ is a teeny bopper romantic story revolving around Prem (Ranbir Kapoor) and Jenny (Katrina Kaif) interspersed with various twists and turns.
Prem is a ninth standard dropout whose sole aim in life is to become the President of Happy Club. A club whose motto is to make people happy, its members are nothing but idlers who are good for nothing. In this utopian world of Prem, here comes Jenny, an orphan whose foster parents force her to marry an intolerable guy just because he is the son of filthy rich parents.
However, with both Prem and Jenny having a propensity to stammer, both become close friends. In order to help Jenny, our Prem becomes the Man Friday as he tries to help Jenny to get together with her boyfriend Rahul, yet, is struggling to hide his emotions towards Jenny and herein begins the incessant laughter riot that comes with sparkling dialogues, exceptional comic timings from Ranbir and Katrina.
After ‘Wake Up Sid’, Ranbir has once again delivers a stellar performance. In ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, Ranbir Kapoor simply floors you with his bumbling nerd act. He is cute, lovable and does full justice to the character of Prem. On the other hand, Katrina too carries the role of Jenny with perfect élan.
Apart from the lead characters, Darshan Jariwala, Smita Jaykar, Navneet Nishan, Govind Namdeo, Upen Patel and Zakir Hussain surely add punch to the film as Darshan Jariwala and Smita Jaykar are simply exceptional as the parents of Prem. Pritam’s music has a tremendous youth appeal while making ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ a Box Office winner. Watch out for the awesome Ranbir-Katrina chemistry!
‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ is a complete family entertainer and a paisa vasool flick.
