Stolen articles of NRI traced in Agra    
New Delhi, Nov 05: Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have recovered from Agra the valuables of an NRI that were allegedly stolen by an auto-driver here about a fortnight ago.

Ashok Bhalla, the NRI who resides in Wimbledon in Britain, boarded an auto from Nizamuddin Bus Depot to Sukhdev Vihar and on way he stopped to purchase some sweets when the driver fled with his articles, a senior police official said.

Police have recovered his passport, foreign currency 500 British Pound, 6,500 Russian Roubles, air ticket, digital camera, a laptop and Indian Currency Rs 95,000 and two mobile phones, the official said.

Bhalla went inside the shop and when he came back, the driver had left taking away his bag containing his British Passport, Foreign Currency, Air ticket folder containing legal papers, digital Camera, a laptop and and two mobile phones.

"He had noted only the numbers in the registration plate and during investigations police found 12 such auto with the same numbers. Out of these, six autos were dismantled and scrapped while five were located," the official said.

Police found that one auto was registered in the name of Ram Das who had left the given address without intimating about his present address.

An auto dealer provided the address of Rajender, the driver of the auto. When police went to his house, it was found locked. "A team was sent to Agra at his native place but he was found absconding. However, the stolen materials were recovered from his house," the official said.
