Chopper service from Pahalgam to Panchtarni
Srinagar, July 17: The helicopter service between Pahalgam and Panchtarni, six km from the Amarnath shrine, would be launched from July 22, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra said on Thursday.

"This will synchronise with the relocation of helipad for the Baltal based service on that day," Vohra, who is also the Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, said.

He was interacting with senior officers of the district Administration of Anantnag and the board at Chandanwari, 114 km from here.

Vohra visited Panchtarni, the last halting place on the traditional Pahalgam-shrine route, six km short of the cave, in a prelude to the shifting of the helipad for Baltal based services.

He enquired about the facilities being provided for the ground crew and control of the heli-services from both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes and directed the Chief Executive Officer of the board B B Vyas to create additional amenities, for the pilgrims and service providers.

Vohra, who inspected the camp there, said the place being the new destination for helicopter services, would require improved logistics.

The governor also met officials of the board, security forces and civil administration at Sheshnag.
