Who is Prahlad Modi? Know about PM Narendra Modi's brother who met accident today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's younger brother Prahlad Modi got injured in a car accident on Tuesday. According to reports, he was traveling to Bandipur along with his son, daughter-in-law and grandson when his Mercedes Benz car hit the divider near Mysuru, Karnataka. 

Prahlad Modi along with his family have been admitted to JSS Hospital for treatment, however, it is said that they sustained minor injuries and are currently safe. 

Who is Prahlad Modi? 

Prahlad Modi is the fourth of six children born to Narendra Modi's parents Damodardas Modi and Hira Ben Modi. He is the vice president of All India Fair Price Shop Dealer's Federation, which was founded in 2001. He recently made news when he staged a dharna at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

Prahlad Modi, many-a-times, have protesting against government policies which are established by his brother Narendra Modi. He used to own a ration shop in Ahmedabad before he retired due to his old age. His organisation had recently demanded compensation for the loss on rice, wheat and sugar which re being supplied through fair price shops. 

Prahlad Modi has been staging such protest since the time Narendra Modi was a Chief Minister of Gujarat. He continued to protest against the government policies even after he became Prime Minister.

About Prahalad and PM Narendra Modi's other brothers

Prahalad Modi has four brothers among which the eldest brother is Somabhai Modi followed by Amrit Modi. At number three is Narendra Modi and after him, Prahlad Modi himself followed by Pankaj Modi. Amrit Modi is now a retired lathe machine operator and is married to Chandrakanta Ben. They have a son named Sanjay Modi. Pankaj Modi is a clerk in the Information Department of the Gujarat Government.

Prahalad Modi's views about PM Narendra Modi

Earlier in an interview, Prahlad Modi said that he has met his brother PM Modi only three times since 2006-2014 and not once since he became Prime Minister. In an interview in 2019, Prahlad had revealed that he is on good terms with Narendra Modi, however they do not talk on phone frequently or meet. "He has dedicated his life to the welfare of the nation. We did not meet even when he came to Gandhinagar to seek the blessings of our mother after his swearing in last year. I am a shopkeeper. I do not enjoy any special rights or privileges being the prime minister’s sibling. Yes, as a protocol I have been provided security," he said.
