What India said in Kulbhushan Jadhav's defence at ICJ: 10 submissions

The Hague: India and Pakistan on Monday presented their arguments in the Kulbhushan Jadhav's case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The ICJ had last week "stayed" the execution on a petition by India, which approached the UN court after 46 years on an issue with Pakistan.

Here is what India submitted in the case at ICJ:

1/ India calls for immediate suspension of Kulbhushan Jadhav's sentence and accuses Pakistan of violating Vienna Convention of consular access.

2/ Graver the charges, greater the need for continued adherence of Vienna Convention.

3/ The present situation is grave and that is why India has sought the indulgence of ICJ.ICJ.

4/ Kulbhushan Jadhav has neither consular access nor legal representation "even at this stage". All requests for consular access fell on "deaf ears".

5/ We want appropriate legal representation for Kulbhushan Jadhav.

6/ Kulbhushan Jadhav was framed on confessional statements extracted from him when he was in Pakistan's military custody.

7/ India tells ICJ it fears Kulbhushan Jadhav will be executed before its arguments are heard in the case.

8/ Human rights which are treated as "basics" have been thrown to the wind by Pakistan.

9/ No document of Jadhav's trial process was given by Islamabad.

10/ Jadhav's trial was held under "farcical" circumstances in violation of the Vienna Convention.
