UP Election Results: Landslide victory for BJP, SP distant 2nd; Congress, BSP decimated

Uttar Pradesh assembly election 2022 final result: BJP wins 255 seats, SP gets 111

In the 403-member Uttar Pradesh assembly, the BJP has won 255 seats, 53 more than the halfway mark of 202. Its allies Apna Dal(S) and Nishad Party clinched 12 and 6 seats respectively. The Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party won 111 constituencies and its allies Rashtriya Lok Dal of Jayant Chaudhary 8 and Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party of Om Prakash Rajbhar grabbed 6. 

While Congress managed to win two seats, Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) could only get one seat despite polling 12.88 per cent votes.

BJP has won 251 seats and is leading in 3, as per current election trend. 

"I accept the mandate in Sirathu," tweets UP Deputy CM and BJP's Keshav Prasad Maurya after losing to SP's Pallavi Patel by a margin of 7337 votes.

BJP has won 224 seats so far and is leading in 31.

BJP has so far won 185 seats and is leading in 68. SP is trailing behind with 68 seats in its kitty and ahead in 44, as per election trends. 

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav wins Karhal seat with a margin of 67,504 votes.

PM Modi is now addressing the BJP workers. The PM says that today (election results) is a "victory of democracy" and congratulates the voters for giving BJP the mandate in four out of the five states that declared results.

Amid chants of "Modi, Modi, Modi", BJP President JP Nadda also congratulates the voters and the party workers for his party's successful campaign in the assembly elections. 

After his arrival at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, PM Modi was felicitated by BJP national president JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Nadda said the BJP received blessings from four states and the people of India had given the saffron party a mandate.

Amit Shah expresses gratitude to people of UP for reposing their faith in BJP

Amit Shah has expressed gratitude to the people of Uttar Pradesh for reposing their faith in Bharatiya Janata Party.

"I salute people of UP for their unwavering faith in PM Modi's leadership in 2014, 2019 LS polls and 2017, 2022 assembly polls," said Union Home Minister.

"People have put their stamp of approval on UP CM Yogi Adityanath's good governance, which is free from corruption and fear," Shah said and added that the BJP's grand win in UP is a victory of unshakable faith of poor and farmers in PM Modi's welfare programmes.

BJP maintains its huge lead, set for unprecedented second term

In trends and results available for the 403 seats, BJP, the ruling party has so far won 42 seats and is currently ahead in 207 constituencies. This will be the first time in over three decades that a party will get re-elected for a second term in the politically crucial state.

BJP wins 4 seats, leads in 244

According to the latest party-wise trends available on the Election Commission's website, BJP has won 4 seats while leads in 244. The SP, on the other hand, is leading in 114.

Yogi Adityanath leading from Gorakhpur seat by over 40,000 votes

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is heading for a landslide victory and is currently leading by over 40,000 votes from the Gorakhpur Urban seat. According to the latest trends, Adityanath has secured 60,310 votes while his nearest rival, Samajwadi Party's Subhawati Shukla, has bagged 20,166 votes.

Adityanath, contesting his first assembly election, does not seem to be getting a much fight from rivals on the Gorakhpur seat.

Meanwhile, Adityanath's supporters have gathered at the Gorakhpur Math and also at the party office to celebrate BJP's victory in the state.

According to the party-wise trends available on the Election Commission's website, BJP is ahead in 152 seats while the SP is leading in 66. Congress and BSP are currently leading in four assembly constituencies each.

As per the Election Commission of India, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 48 seats, Samajwadi Party (SP) is ahead in 24, and Congress is leading in two assembly constituencies.

UP Assembly election results 2017:

In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, BJP had won 312 seats on its own while NDA's figure was 325. The SP had taken 47 seats, BSP 19 and the Congress had won seven seats, two less than Apna Dal (S) at nine.

Several exit polls have forecast a clear majority for Yogi Adityanath's BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. If the saffron party gets a majority in the 403-member Assembly, it would become the first party to get a consecutive second term in over three decades.

Uttar Pradesh, which has a maximum of 403 assembly constituencies, will have more than 750 counting halls. A total of 250 companies of CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces) have been provided to all the districts and commissionerates of Uttar Pradesh.
