Modi Cabinet 3.0 Oath Ceremony Highlights: The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) under the leadership of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi formed the government at the Centre for the third consecutive term on Sunday. Modi took oath along with 71 Council of Ministers at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday at 7:15 PM. The new coalition government's list of 71 ministers consists of 36 Ministers of State (MoS), 5 Ministers of State (MoS) with independent charge, and 30 Cabinet Ministers.
Although the portfolios haven't been revealed yet, Modi 3.0's formation and structure demonstrate a sufficient focus on the alliance partners as well as pan-Indian representation. Given that the ministers represent up to 24 states, an initial glance at the Union Cabinet reveals a deliberate attempt to represent every region of the nation.
On Sunday, a total of eleven ministers from the NDA alliance partners took the oath of office and secrecy. In their prior postings, at least 43 ministers have held office for three terms or longer in the Parliament.
Former chief ministers from the state legislature, like Manohar Lal Khattar and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, have also joined Team Modi, indicating a shift in role from state legistature to the Parliament. It is reported that at least 34 ministers, 23 of whom were Ministers of States, have prior experience in state legislatures.
Out of the 71 ministers, 27 are from the Other Backward Class (OBC), 10 are from the Scheduled Caste (SC), 5 are from the Scheduled Tribe (ST), and 5 are from the minority community. These caste equations have also been taken into consideration.
Notably, PM Modi is the only prime minister since Jawaharlal Nehru to be elected to a third consecutive term in office, making this a record-breaking term for him.
