Mumbai: Forecast gives hope, no more heavy rains likely

Traffic at most places returned to normalcy except for a few diversions at Aarey Colony Bridge to Road no and through linking road for SV Road

Latest reports state that operations are going slow on Runway 14 at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport; NOTAM (A Notice to Airmen) taken up to 1800 hrs.

Khar subway has now been opened for traffic

Water logging in Bandra at Railway colony on S V Road, reported Mumbai police. Diversion towards linking road of both directions 

The IMD has now removed the heavy rainfall warning. 

"Now rainfall will decrease, but light to moderate rainfall to continue in Mumbai region," said IMD Mumbai scientist Ajay Kumar. "We have removed warning (for heavy rainfall). Intermittent rainfall is likely over city and suburbs for next 48 hrs."

Meanwhile the Western Railway said that commercial inspectors have been deployed at various important stations for management

"Trans-harbour running normally, slight delay in Harbour and Main line. Uploaded updates of trains on social media," said the Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway

At least 13 Mumbai-Delhi flights delayed and 15 cancelled, reports ANI.

"There are delays in arrival and departure flights because of the fluctuating weather," says Airport Spokesperson.

Mumabi's critical services - the suburban trains and Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses - are running with delays.

As of 8 am on Wednesday, traffic is moving normally in both directions on the Eastern Freeway, said Mumbai Police.

Mumbai schools and colleges will be closed today. This leave will be adjusted with the Deepawali leave in October.

Mumbai Dabbawalas will not be working today.

"Won't be working today, no Dabba delivery by Mumbai Dabbawalas due to Mumbai Rains," said Subhash Talekar, Mumbai Dabbawala Association Spox

A total of 56 flights have been diverted

The train services on Harbour line have resumed, said Mumbai Police

Five Western Railways trains have been cancelled.

Six Central Railways trains cancelled and two diverted.

Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport has been shut after both runways were rendered non-operational.

The Meteorological Department (MeT) issued alerted high tide on Wednesday afternoon at 12.03 pm of 4.5mm. The department also warned for heavy rainfall in next 24 hours.
