Mumbai Rain: Air Travel Disrupted

On Thursday, heavy rains in Mumbai led to the cancellation of 11 flights and the diversion of 10 others to nearby airports, PTI reported.

Runway operations at Mumbai airport were halted twice due to visibility dropping to 300 meters. Airlines advised passengers to arrive early because of traffic congestion and water-logging in parts of the city.

Mumbai Rain: Loco Pilots Decrease Speed Of Trains

Central Railways' Chief Public Relations Officer, Swapnil Dhanraj Nila, reported that heavy rainfall is significantly impacting train services. He explained that reduced visibility from rain and wind forces loco pilots to lower train speeds, which affects punctuality. Nila added that the municipal corporations, KDMC, and MCGA have issued warnings advising the public to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary due to the red alert. 

Maharashtra Rain: NDRF Team Reaches Lavasa's Landslide Site

According to the National Disaster Response Force, a team has reached the site of the landslide in Lavasa. The road route to the landslide site has developed some cracks.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Witnesses Heavy Rainfall

Pimpri-Chinchwad, which is about 15 km northwest of Pune, experienced heavy rainfall on Thursday. Several areas were submerged in water.

Mumbai Rain: Parts Of City Submerged

Several areas Of Mumbai have been flooded and out of the seven lakes that supply water to the city, two are overflowing. Areas which have been severely affected include places such as Sion, Chembur and Andheri.

Maharashtra Rain: NDRF, Indian Army Carry Out Rescue Ops In Pune

In Pune, teams of the National Disaster Response Force and the Indian Army were deployed to rescue locals stranded in inundated areas of  Ekta Nagar.

Rain Batters Parts Of Gujarat Too

On the situation arising due to heavy rains in the district, Collector & DM Rajkot, Prabhav Joshi said, "There has been heavy rainfall in Upleta and Dhoraji talukas of Rajkot district. I visited these areas to assess the damage suffered by farmers there. Help will be provided to them based on the survey by the district authorities." (ANI)

'Monsoon is very active over Maharashtra': IMD Director

About heavy rains in the state, IMD Director, Mumbai, Sunil Kamble, said, "Monsoon is very active over Maharashtra. Yesterday, we gave a red alert for Pune, and we have noticed 114mm of rain in the city as well as we have seen in Ghat areas more than 200 mm of rain has already been recorded. In Mumbai, we have recorded more than 65mm of rainfall in and around Mumbai since yesterday. Red alert was till this morning, for Pune it's Orange alert today. For Mumbai, it is Yellow alert today."

Pune Rain: Heavy Downpour Forces Water From Khadakwasla Dam To Be Released

Due to continuous rainfall in the catchment area of Khadakwasla Dam, the dam reached its full capacity on Thursday. As per information from the District Information Office, the Pune administration increased the speed and released the water into the Mutha River on Thursday at 6 a.m. at a rate of 40,000 cusecs.

A landslide along the Pune-Kolad Road in the Tamhini Ghat section around 2.30 am on Thursday led to the death of a 30-year-old man while another person was injured. 3 more people died in Pune due to electrocution. The men were electrocuted when they were trying to move their handcart in the Deccan area.

Due to continuous rainfall, Mumbai traffic is witnessing congestion in different parts of the town. The Indian Meteorological Department issued a red alert for Maharashtra on Thursday and has predicted extremely heavy rainfall. On Wednesday, an orange alert has also been issued in the state warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.6 to 204.4 mm) from July 26 to July 27 in Maharashtra.
