Lok Sabha Election 2024: Election Officer Briefs Ahead Of Phase 6 

Chief Election Officer Navdeep Rinwa intersected with the media today ahead of phase 6 of Lok Sabha Polls 2024.

"Tomorrow, the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha polls will be held. Voting will be conducted in a total of 14 Lok Sabha constituencies... 2192 sector magistrates, 282 zonal magistrates, 24 static magistrates and police forces have been appointed to maintain law and order... I appeal to all the voters to exercise their right to vote... I hope more voters will come out tomorrow and the upcoming seventh phase of polling... All the arrangements have been made," he said.

Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram candidate Shashi Tharoor hits out at BJP and said that people are upset over unemployment, and inflation. He further added that the Congress party will get good results this time.

"It will be difficult for them to even cross 300 seats...After 5 phases of elections, we are seeing that people are upset with the government because there is unemployment, inflation... Congress will be in a better position than before. We will get good results in the North also," he said.

Lok Sabha Election 2024: 'We Will Achieve 400 Paar Target,' Says Chirag Paswan 

 LJP (Ramvilas) Chief Chirag Paswan on Friday expressed his confidence over victory in the ongoing general election and said that "we will achieve our target of 400 Paar."

"On one side there is an example of a PM, who is providing schemes like Ujwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi... On the other side, there is an example of corruption, crime and land in exchange for the job... We have already crossed the majority seats mark. After all the seven phases of polling, we will achieve our target of 400 Paar," he said.

PM Narendra Modi slammed the AAP-led government in Punjab on Saturday, stating that the state is governed by remote control from Delhi.

 "Unfortunately, Punjab is being governed via remote control. The Durbaris of Delhi are governing Punjab. The CM of Punjab cannot make a single decision on his own... The CM had to go to Tihar Jail to take new orders to run his government... After 1st June, the corrupt will go to jail again. Will the Punjab government function from the jail again?" Modi said while addressing a public rally in Gurdaspur.

 Lok Sabha Elections 2024: '4 Crore Houses Constructed Under PM Awas Yojana,' Says  JP Nadda 

BJP national President JP Nadda addressed the public rally in Uttar Pradesh's  Ballia on Friday and said that under PM Awas Yojana more than 4 crore houses have been constructed. 

 "... I was an MLA in 1993. The BDO used to come to inform me about the two houses allotted for one Panchayat under the Indira Awas Yojana... I used to ask what would I do with two houses, I could not divide two houses among the people... Today, in the PM Awas Yojana, 4 crore houses have been constructed... Today, more than 50 houses are being constructed in every panchayat," he said.

Lok Sabha Elections 2025: Security Beefed Up For 6th Phase Polls

"In Shahdara, there are 166 polling stations and 827 polling booths. Staff has been appointed as per the guidelines of the Election Commission. A staff of 2500 will be on duty that day... The staff was briefed on May 20 and today... Drones will be used at sensitive polling booths..." said Additional DCP Vishnu Kumar Sharma.

As the mercury is on a constant rise in the national capital, the Additional DCP said that it is expected that the temperature might rise to 45 degrees Celsius. "Glucose and ORS have been distributed to the staff and they have been told that they must also carry necessary things with them to protect from heatwave," he added.

Lok Sabha Elections Phase 6: What Are The Voting Timings? 

Election Commission of India (ECI) said on Saturday that a total of 889 candidates from eight States and Union Territories (UTs) will contest elections in 58 constituencies. The voting will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 6 p.m.

Some of the key seats in this phase include New Delhi, North-East Delhi, North-West Delhi and Chandni Chowk in the national capital and Sultanpur and Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag-Rajouri, West Bengal's Tamluk, Medinipur, Haryana's Karnal, Kurukshetra, Gurgaon, Rohtak and Odisha's Bhubaneswar, Puri and Sambalpur are some of the other key seats.
