While addressing the rally in Rajasthan, the Prime Minister accused the Congress of persisting poverty in the nation.  "For seven decades after independence, poverty persisted in the country, thanks to the Congress," he said. 

He further added that Congress never allowed our army to become self-reliant.  "India had to rely on other countries for new technology and defence equipment, all because of the Congress. During the Congress era, our army was never allowed to become self-reliant," Modi said.
