The court finds that Pakistan deprived India of the right to communicate with and have access to Kulbhushan Jadhav, to visit him in detention and to arrange for his legal representation, and thereby breached obligations incumbent upon it under Vienna Convention on Consular Relations: ICJ

"A continued stay of execution constitutes an indispensable condition for the effective review and reconsideration of the conviction and sentence of Mr Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav," the ICJ rules.

The ICJ also observed that Kubhushan Jadhav's death sentence should remain suspended until Pakistan effectively reviews and reconsiders the sentence in light of Pakistan’s breach of Art 36(1) i.e. denial of consular access and notification. However, India's remedies in the case, including annulment of the military court decision and Jadhav's return to India, have been rejected.

The UN Court also directs Pakistan to provide effective review and reconsideration of Jadhav's conviction and sentences.

ICJ suspends Kulbhushan Jadhav's death penalty, says Pakistan violated Vienna Convention.

Pakistan's legal team has also arrived at the UN Court.

The team from Indian Embassy has arrived at the International Court of Justice for the hearing in Kulbhushan Jadhav case which will start in the next 50 minutes.

Noted lawyer Harish Salve, who is leading India's legal team in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case, is scheduled to address the press at the Indian High Commission at 9:30 PM (IST) after the UN Court's verdict in the case. 

The Pakistani legal team also includes Foreign Office spokesperson Muhammad Faisal.

Pakistan's legal team, led by Attorney General for Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan, arrived in The Hague on Tuesday ahead of the ICJ's verdict in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

In ICJ hearings, India accused Pakistan of denying consular access to Jadhav in violation of the Vienna Convention. Pakistan countered India by saying that Jadhav had been found guilty of "spying and terrorism".

India has challenged the "farcical trial" that Kulbhushan Jadhav was put through by Pakistan on the basis of what it claims was an extracted confession.

Ahead of the ICJ verdict in the case, sources in the Indian government have claimed that Kulbhushan Jadhav was kidnapped in Iran's Chabahar and moved to Pakistan by an armed group. Read Full Report

The verdict in the case will be read out by ICJ's top judge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf.

The ICJ had released a statement saying that a public sitting in Jadhav's case will take place at 3 PM (6.30 pm IST) on July 17 at the Peace Palace in the Hague. 

The ICJ is scheduled to deliver its verdict in Kulbhushan Jadhav case on Wednesday.
