Odisha Covid-19 Cases

Odisha reported over a hundred new COVID-19 after six months with 104 people testing positive for the virus, a health department official said. The cases were detected on Friday after 5,526 samples were tested, he said. No fresh fatality has been recorded so far, and there are now 429 active cases in the state.
 

Covid-19 Cases In Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh reported its first Covid death of year 2023. An elderly woman, a resident of Vrindavan Colony, had tested positive for the virus on April 2 and died while undergoing treatment on Thursday. She was also diagnosed with multiple organ failure.

In the last 24 hours, the state reported 192 fresh Covid cases, while 68 patients recovered, including one in Lucknow. At present, there are 842 active Covid cases in the state.
 

Covid-19 Situation In Andhra Pradesh

Coronavirus pandemic is completely under control in Andhra Pradesh with only 267 people exhibiting symptoms out of the total 15,096 people screened, state Health Minister Vidadala Rajini said. The Minister said there was no reason to worry, reflecting on these tests conducted in the past two weeks.

"Currently, all these patients are undergoing treatment at their homes. Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy always alerts the health department on Covid tests," said Rajini in a statement on Friday.

Haryana Covid-19 Cases

Haryana on Friday reported 407 fresh Covid infections, half of which were recorded in the Gurugram district, the Health department said in a bulletin. According to the bulletin, Gurugram reported the highest number of cases at 206, followed by 72 in Panchkula and 53 in Faridabad.

Covid-19 Cases In Tamil Nadu

Of the about 6,050 positive cases reported across India in the last 24 hours, Tamil Nadu recorded 273 cases.  The Tamil Nadu government will ramp up RT-PCR testing in view of an increase in coronavirus cases in the state, state Health Minister, M Subramaniam said on Friday.

Covid-19 Cases In Punjab

Punjab recorded 159 fresh cases of coronavirus on Friday, according to a medical bulletin. Among the new cases, 51 were reported from Mohali, 18 from Jalandhar, 15 from Ludhiana, 10 from Fatehgarh Sahib, nine from Patiala and eight each from Amritsar and Bathinda, it said.

The number of active cases rose to 584 on Friday, it said, adding that the positivity rate stands at 4.15 per cent. There was no report of death in the state due to Covid on Friday.

Delhi Covid-19 Cases

Delhi on Friday logged 733 fresh Covid cases, the highest in more than seven months, with a positivity rate of 19.93 per cent, according to data shared by the city government's health department. The health bulletin said two more Covid-positive people died in the city. However, "Covid finding was incidental", it added.

Jharkhand Seeks 50,000 Covid-19 Vaccine Doses Amid Rise In Cases

Amid rising cases of coronavirus, Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta on Friday urged the Centre to provide at least 50,000 COVID vaccine doses to continue with the immunisation drive in the state.

Gupta raised the issue in a review meeting conducted by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya virtually. "Jharkhand runs out of COVID vaccine doses. We had sent a request to provide at least 50,000 doses to the state two-week back but its arrival is still awaited," Gupta told the central minister.

Odisha Covid-19 Cases

Odisha on Friday registered 104 new COVID-19 cases, taking the state's tally to 13,37,377, a health department official said.
The cases were detected among 5,526 samples that were tested, he said. Over 100 cases were registered in the state after a gap of six months. The state had last recorded 103 cases on October 12 last year. No fresh fatality has been recorded so far, and there are now 429 active cases in the state.

Centre Asks States, UTs To Conduct Mock Drill Amid Rising Covid-19 Cases

Holding a meeting with the state health ministers and principal and additional chief secretaries, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya asked the states to conduct mock drills of all hospital infrastructure on April 10 and 11 and review the health preparedness with district administrations and health officials on April 8 and 9.

Ajit Pawar Asks Maharashtra Govt To take Covid-19 'Seriously'

Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar on Friday said the state government should look into the COVID-19 situation immediately, as cases have been on the rise and apprise citizens. "During the recently concluded Assembly sessions, we had asked the state government about measures it was taking and the line of action it had decided to enable people's representatives to go back to their constituencies and work on dealing with the COVID-19 situation by taking officials into confidence," Pawar told reporters in Pune.

Himachal Pradesh Covid-19 Cases

Himachal Pradesh registered 108 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday with a weekly positivity rate of 6.6, according to Health officials.
The state's active caseload currently stands at 1,933, they said. A 19-year-old woman died of the virus in Mandi district on Friday, taking the state's total death toll to 4,198.

Chhattisgarh Health Minister Appeals People To Wear Masks

Talking to reporters, Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singh Deo said that the Covid-19 is not over and urged the public to wear masks and follow Covid-19 protocol. Deo also asked senior citizens to be extra carefull and take boster dose if not taken yet. "Worrying factor is what if a new variant comes that can cause death. There was one death due to covid in both March and April, he told ANI.

Covid-19 Cases In Gujarat

As per state government data, Gujarat has 2,142 active cases, the mortality rate is 3 per cent, while the number of daily coronavirus tests are in the range of 20,000 to 22,000. Addressing a press conference after the meeting with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, state minister Rushikesh Patel appealed to people to wear masks and go for a test if they experience COVID-19 symptoms.

Maharashtra Covid-19 Cases Today

Maharashtra on Friday reported  926 fresh Covid-19 cases and 3 fatalities in the last 24 hours. According to the data released by the sate government, there are 4487 active cases in the state.

Puducherry Makes Masks Mandatory In Public Places

The government of Puducherry, on Friday, released an advisory requiring individuals in public areas to wear face masks due to a significant increase in Covid-19 cases. The District Collector, E. Vallavan, announced the mandatory use of face masks in public areas. Meanwhile, during a Covid-19 review meeting conducted by Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday, Puducherry Chief Minister Natesan Krishnasamy Rangasamy stated that the spread of Covid-19 in Puducherry is currently being managed.

Coronavirus Outbreak

The Centre on Friday told the states and Union territories that currently the World Health Organisation is closely tracking one variant of interest (VOI), XBB.1.5 and six other variants are under monitoring BQ.1, BA.2.75, CH.1.1, XBB, XBF and XBB.1.16. The prevalence of XBB.1.16 increased from 21.6 per cent in February to 35.8 per cent in March, 2023. However, no evidence of an increase in hospitalisation or mortality has been reported.
 

Goa Begins In-Patient Covid-19 Testing At Govt Hospitals

In light of the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, the Goa government on Friday resumed in-patient testing at state-run hospitals using antigen testing kits, a minister said. Goa had on Thursday recorded 162 new cases of coronavirus infection, which raised the active tally in the state to 872. Taking to Twitter, state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said, "I have directed the team at @GoaGmc to activate the genome sequencing machine on the premises, and the secretary for health has been notified on the same. We have also begun in-patient testing at government hospitals using antigen testing to keep the situation under control."

Mansukh Mandaviya Asks States To Ramp Up Covid-19 Testing, Vaccination

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stressed on identifying emergency hotspots by monitoring trends of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) cases, ramping up testing and vaccination and ensuring readiness of hospital infrastructure.
Along with enhancing genome sequencing and ramping up whole genome sequencing of positive samples, he also emphasised on creating awareness about following Covid-appropriate behaviour.

Delhi Covid-19 Cases

More than 3,000 cases of Covid have been recorded in Delhi in the past one week, while the tally of active cases has increased by over 121 per cent in the same period, according to official data. The national capital logged 606 cases on Thursday, the highest in over seven months, with a positivity rate of 16.98 per cent. The city had recorded 620 cases on August 26.

According to data shared by the Delhi government's health department, the active cases tally on Thursday stood at 2,060, a jump of over 121 per cent since March 30 when the corresponding figure was 932.

CJI Nods For WFH For Lawyers Amid Covid-19 Outbreak 

Amid the rising Covid cases across the country, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Wednesday said lawyers are free to appear virtually and need not be in courts. "We saw newspaper reports on rising Covid cases. Lawyers can use hybrid mode. If you choose to appear online, we will hear you," said the CJI.

The Supreme Court had reverted to the physical hearing mode of adjudication of cases from April 4, 2022, after taking into account the low infection rate and the number of Covid cases in Delhi and across the country.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Asks Centre For Covid-19 Vaccines 

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday urged the Centre to provide fresh stocks of Covid-19 vaccine vials so that administering of jabs, which is currently on hold, could be resumed. "In Bihar cases are very few but we are alert, nonetheless. In places like hospitals wearing of masks is being reinforced. We were also carrying out vaccination till our supply dried up. We hope the Centre would do the needful soon", Nitish Kumar told PTI.

Coronavirus Outbreak In India

"We need to remain alert but there is no need to worry. Currently, the sub-variant of Omicron, which is circulating in the country, hasn`t led to an increase in the rate of hospitalisation," Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said earlier on the Covid-19 situation in the country.
