TDP has survived many crises and we can sail through this situation. I wrote many letters to the Centre. Recently also I gave a letter to PM but nothing materialised: N Chandrababu Naidu

There were issues after the division of Andhra Pradesh. If there were issues all these years, then why weren't they raised? This shows merely an opportunistic nature: D Jayakumar, AIADMK MLA and Tamil Nadu Minister

Far from being a threat, TDP's exit is a timely opportunity for the BJP to grow in Andhra Pradesh: BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao

The TDP last week pulled its two ministers out of the central government but had stopped short of walking out of the alliance.  

The Shiv Sena, which has attacked the BJP unsparingly for some time now and has said it will go it alone in Maharashtra, recently declared that "the Modi wave is over".

More allies have grown restive after the BJP's setback in bypolls in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar; the party was stunned as it lost two strongholds in UP on Wednesday.

TDP's demand for special status would mean a large infusion of central funds to help with the state government's plans to develop its new capital Amravati.

TDP is reportedly miffed at BJP's growing proximity with Jagan Reddy's YSR Congress.  

Naidu on Thursday addressed his party parliamentarians in Delhi through teleconference and reportedly said the bypoll results reflected an anti-Modi and anti-BJP wave.

The Bharatiya Janata Party and the TDP had been treading on a thin line after the Narendra Modi government did not allocate additional funds for Andhra Pradesh.

The decision was taken unanimously by the TDP party politburo this morning.
