Highlights January 7: A leopard was rescued from a house in Jawan village of UP's Aligarh, after it wandered into the house earlier today, reported ANI.

New Delhi: Delhi continued to experience severe cold wave and fog conditions on Saturday (January 7). The air quality in the national capital also saw a dip owing to the persistent foggy conditions. Meanwhile, residents of the Dhaula Kuan slum stated that they were served an eviction notice by the Public Works Department (PWD) on December 29 and are asked to leave the premises within 15 days. The Kanjhawala case which has shocked the nation with its gory details saw the arrest of the 6th and 7th accused by the Delhi police on Friday (January 6). A lockdown-like situation has reportedly emerged in Ajnara Lee Garden Society due to a search for leopards going on with drones.

In regards to the peeing incident on an Air India flight in November, Delhi police summoned the staff in connection with the case today at 10:30 am.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami is set to visit Joshimath amid cracks developing in hundreds of homes due to geological changes. He has ordered the immediate evacuation of all the residents in the danger-prone zone.

Joshimath crisis: CM Pushkar Dhami says it is undecided if residents need to be migrated

Speaking to ANI about the sinking town of Joshimath, CM Dhami said, "We are also contemplating if people need to be migrated from here & rehabilitated. We are also finding out a location for this. As of now, this is the winter season. So, we are looking into the issues that need to be addressed immediately."

603 buildings develop cracks in Joshimath: Chamoli DM to Zee News 

In an exclusive to Zee News, Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana said, "A total of 603 buildings have cracks, it is being ascertained why these cracks are appearing. The team of experts is constantly keeping a tab in Joshimath. The cracks in 603 houses have been categorised into 3 zones. There are around 60 families in the core zone, out of which 45 families have been shifted, the remaining will be shifted today. People need to be careful."

Uttarakhand CM will be visiting Joshimath today; 1000s affected by cracks on roads, houses

Chamoli DM Himanshu Khurana told ANI, "Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami is scheduled to visit Joshimath today. He will also be visiting relief camps that have been set up here. In Joshimath, all construction activities have been banned till further orders."

Shankar Mishra, man who peed on woman on Air India flight, arrested

Shankar Mishra, the accused in the Air India urination case, has been arrested by Delhi Police in Bengaluru. The police department arrested Mishra on the night of January 6 and brought him to Delhi to be presented in court on January 7. It is worth noting that Mishra had been evading arrest and Delhi Police had issued a lookout circular to locate him. Shankar Mishra was accused of urinating on a 70-year-old co-passenger on November 26 on a New York-Delhi flight.

Delhi witnesses dip in AQI levels, back to 'severe' category

Delhiites woke up to increased air pollution as AQI levels dipped due to the prevailing fog conditions in North India. As per protocol, all construction activity has been banned in the capital until AQI improves. The air quality index (AQI) at various hotspots in Delhi-NCR reached the severe category, including Mathura Road (440), Patparganj (448), Nehru Nagar (462), Sahibabad (452) and Noida Sector-62 (426). Delhi Public Works Department puts up eviction notices in slums of Dhaula Kuan

On December 29, the PWD slapped eviction notices on the slums located in Dhaula Kuan in Delhi. It asked the residents to evict the premises within 15 days. News agency ANI quoted the reaction of a resident of the slum, Sonia. She told the agency, "Delhi govt has given us a notice on December 29 to vacate within 15 days. We have been living here for 20-25 years. Where will we go now? We don't have another place to stay."
