New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has decided to skip the Enforcement Directorate summon in the Delhi Liquor scam case. He has departed for Madhya Pradesh for campaigning in the upcoming elections along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Kejriwal has challenged the legality of the ED notice and demanded its withdrawal. He has accused the BJP of using the ED to stop him from electioneering.
The ED has summoned Kejriwal under the PMLA for his alleged role in the liquor scam case, which also involves his deputy Manish Sisodia and AAP MP Sanjay Singh. Both Sisodia and Singh are in judicial custody. The CBI had earlier summoned Kejriwal in April this year, but he was not named as a suspect in the FIR.
The liquor scam case pertains to the alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the new excise policy that was later scrapped. The CBI has claimed that there is a money trail of Rs. 338 crores in the case. The Supreme Court has rejected Sisodia’s bail plea and directed to complete the trial in six to eight months.
