FIR Against Shiv Sena UBT Leader Sanjay Raut For Calling Maharashtra Govt 'Illegal'

Nashik: A case has been registered against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut in Maharashtra's Nashik district for allegedly creating discord between the police and the public through his statement. "A case has been registered in Mumbai Naka Police Station u/s 505(1)(b) of IPC against Uddhav faction leader and MP Sanjay Raut for allegedly creating discord between the police and the public by his statement," Nashik City Police said.

IPC Section 505 (1) (b) deals with the 'intent to cause, or which is likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the State or against the public tranquillity'.

Raut has allegedly appealed to the state officials and police personnel to not follow orders of the "illegal" Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis government. The Shiv Sena UBT Rajya Sabha MP made these remarks a day after the Supreme Court pronounced its verdict on the Shiv Sena-centric political imbroglio in Maharashtra.

The senior Shiv Sena leader further said that the Supreme Court has said that the Eknath Shinde group's Whip is illegal...The current govt is illegal and formed against the Constitution. "If the 16 MLAs, including CM Shinde are disqualified, then this group of traitors will be finished,'' Raut said.

Nashik Police officials said that they have taken suo moto cognizance of Raut's remarks and an FIR was registered at Nashik's Mumbai Naka police station. "Sanjay Raut in a statement against the state government said that the present government is illegal and their orders should not be followed," they said. "Further investigation is underway," they added.

Raut, however, alleged that the Nashik police have registered a case against him under pressure from Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and state Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis. "I have only said that after the order of the Supreme Court, I think this govt is illegal and if the govt officials will follow the order of this govt then it will be illegal & action might be taken against them in the coming days," Uddhav faction leader and MP Sanjay Raut told ANI.

Overjoyed with Karnataka assembly election results, Raut has said that the defeat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP in Karnataka shows that the ‘Modi wave’ is coming to an end, while the 'Opposition's wave' is coming across the country.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader made a big Raut prediction on Sunday saying, “The Modi wave is over and now our wave is coming across the country. Our preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections has started, and today a meeting has been called under the chairmanship of (NCP chief) Sharad Pawar….we will discuss the 2024 elections in this meeting and start preparing for it.”

The saffron party's defeat in Karnataka shows that citizens can defeat 'dictatorship,' Raut added. “Congress won, which means Bajrang Bali is with the Congress and not BJP. Home Minister (Amit Shah) was saying that if BJP loses, there will be riots. Karnataka is calm and happy. Where are the riots?” he asked.
