In a shocking development, famous Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on Sunday (June 14). The 34-year-old actor was found hanging at his Bandra residence.

New Delhi: In a shocking development, famous Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on Sunday (June 14). The 34-year-old actor was found hanging at his Bandra residence. 

According to reports, Sushant's domestic help first noticed the actor hanging from the ceiling at his room somewhere between 12 noon- 1 pm today and informed the police after which a team reached the spot. The police said it is probing all angles behind the actor's death. Meanwhile, no suicide note was recovered from the spot. It is to be noted that on June 8, the actor's former manager Disha Salian had committed suicide by jumping off the 14th floor of a building in Mumbai's Malad.  

Meanwhile, reactions started pouring in from everywhere on the passing away of the brilliant actor. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the death of the talented actor and wrote on Twitter, "Sushant Singh Rajput...a bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films. His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote, "Anguished to learn about the sad and untimely demise of the young and very talented actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He will always be remembered for his contribution to Indian cinema. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and followers."

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted in Hindi, "Shocking to hear the death of young Hindi film actor Sushant Singh Rajput. His acting ability, talent and skill were well-known. His demise is painful and it is a great loss for the film industry. May God give his family and fans the strength to bear this grief."

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad wrote, "Shocked to learn that super talented actor #SushantSinghRajput is no more. He was from my city Patna. Remember meeting him in Rashtrapati Bhawan during oath taking ceremony last year. He had told me that his family lived in Rajiv Nagar,Patna. He had miles to go. He left too soon."

BJP leader and spokesperson Sambit Patra wrote, "Sad to learn about demise of a young actor #SushantSinghRajput He was doing so well ..why had he to go .."

Actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani tweeted, "I have no words , no understanding of why you left the way you did. From a bright young kid who came to Balaji to a star who made the Nation swoon.. you had come a long way and had many more miles to go. You will be missed #SushantSinghRajput gone too soon .."

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh tweeted, "Sad to hear about the sudden demise of #SushantSinghRajput. An exemplary actor who will be missed by all. Praying for strength to his family and friends in this difficult time."

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren wrote, "Absolutely shocked to hear about the untimely demise of #SushantSinghRajput . May the departed soul rest in peace and God give strength to family members to bear this loss. 2020 has been a tough & terrible year and let's all pledge to support each other as much as possible."

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing away of young Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Our condolences to his family, loved ones and all those who admired his work," the Aam Aadmi Party wrote on Twitter.

Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi wrote on Twitter, "This is the most most depressing and heartbreaking news about @itsSSR . I have no words to even express the sadness I feel. I was a huge fan of his work. This is cruel cruel times. Condolences to his friends and family."

"Shocked & deeply saddened to hear about the suicide of talented & brilliant actor Sushant Singh Rajput. This unfortunate death of a young & successful individual brings issues related to mental health, particularly in these times, to the fore," Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted.

Rajput became a well-known household face in 2008 with his daily soap 'Pavitra Rishta'. He later quit the show and made his Bollywood debut with director Abhishek Kapoor's 'Kai Po Che', based on the book by Chetan Bhagat. The actor went on to receive several awards and accolades for his debut film and went on to appear in some memorable films like 'PK', 'Kedarnath', 'Sonchiriya' and 'Chhichhore' among others. He was next to be seen in 'Dil Bechara'.

He received immense praise for his performance in 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story', a biopic on former cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He also went on to appear in 2014's highest-grossing film 'PK' also starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma. 

Sushant was born on January 21, 1986, in Patna, Bihar. His family moved to New Delhi in 2000. His mother died in 2002.

He pursued engineering and meanwhile, also joined Shiamak Davar's dance academy after which he started attending Barry John's drama school. In 2005, he also performed at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Australia. Sushant eventually dropped out of college to pursue his acting career.

Sushant dated his 'Pavitra Rishta' co-star Ankita Lokhande for six years before parting ways sometime in 2016. He was rumoured to be in relationship with Rhea Chakraborty.
