BENGALURU: Many areas in Bengaluru on Monday (September 5, 2022 ) remained waterlogged and roads submerged due to heavy overnight rains, with traffic jams being reported in major parts of the city. Many arterial roads were inundated while the basements of apartments were flooded after the rainfall last night.

A traffic advisory has urged residents to avoid going out of their homes except for emergencies and to not send their kids to school.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has assured IT companies about a discussion on the estimated loss of Rs 225 crore due to rain and waterlogging in Bengaluru.

He said that he will call and discuss the damages and compensation borne by them due to rain and waterlogging in the IT hub.

"We'll call IT companies and speak with them related to issues they're facing (due to waterlogging). We'll also discuss the compensation & other related damages caused due to rain," news agency ANI quoted Bommai as saying.

Earlier in July, Karnataka suffered heavy floods due to rains, after which rescue missions and relief work had to be carried out.

Chief Minister Bommai had also sought financial assistance from the Centre.
