Dibrugarh University in Assam rusticated 21 students for alleged involvement in the ragging of juniors after a student jumped off a hostel building due to the incident.

New Delhi:  The Dibrugarh University in Assam on Monday (November 28) rusticated 21 students for their alleged involvement in the ragging junior students of the university. University took the action after a student jumped from the second floor of the hostel building allegedly due to ragging.

According to ANI report,  Anand Sharma, a student who was residing at PNGB hostel in Dibrugarh University jumped from the second floor of the hostel building allegedly due to ragging.

Sharma's parents lodged a complaint pertaining to ragging by five people in a hostel after which accused Niranjan Thakur was arrested while 3 others were detained. 

Sharma who jumped off the building allegedly due to the ragging sustained injuries however his condition is stable according to Dibrugarh SP, reported ANI.

Meanwhile, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu has ordered a Magistrate inquiry led by ADC Sanghamitra Baruah.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also reacted to the incident and appealed to the students to restrain from ragging. CM also informed that the victim is being given medical care and he is closely looking into the matter.
