New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday moved to Supreme Court following the High Court’s stay on his bail in money laundering case linked to excise policy. The Delhi High Court had intervened to withhold Kejriwal's bail pending its decision on a petition lodged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which contests the bail granted to Kejriwal in connection with the excise policy allegations.

The Chief Minister's legal representatives have urgently requested a hearing, slated for Monday, to address the matter.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has contested a trial court's decision from Thursday that granted bail to the AAP leader.

Challenging the Rouse Avenue court order, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju stated that the trial court's decision is perverse. ASG SV Raju, representing the Enforcement Directorate, argued that the probe agency was not given a proper opportunity to present its case before the trial court, reported ANI.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case involving alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-22. The Delhi Chief Minister was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on May 10 due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and was instructed to surrender on June 2.
