New Delhi: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday (August 24, 2021) carried one of the three 'swaroops' of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib that were brought from Kabul. Puri also shared the pictures and a video of him coming out of the Delhi airport.

He took to Twitter and said, "Blessed to receive and pay obeisance to three holy Swaroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from Kabul to Delhi a short while ago."

As per reports, the three copies of Guru Granth Sahib will be taken to Guru Arjan Dev Ji Gurdwara in New Mahavir Nagar in Delhi.

Puri thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making it possible to carry out the rescue operations to bring Indian citizens back.

"I want to compliment the MEA, EAM S Jaishankar and MoS MEA V Muraleedharan for having implemented this," Puri added.

"Arrangements are also being put in place for the remaining people. We're in constant touch with them," Puri said.

Earlier, Puri had outlined the need for the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In a tweet on Sunday, the minister had said, "Recent developments in our volatile neighbourhood and the way Sikhs and Hindus are going through a harrowing time are precisely why it was necessary to enact the Citizenship Amendment Act."

His statement came after the Centre undertook a massive evacuation exercise to airlift Hindus, Sikhs and natives from Afghanistan.

The CAA grants citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan on the ground of religious persecution faced by them in their native countries.

This is to be noted that since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan last week, thousands of people have been trying to leave the country
